I'm supposed to be cleaning right now, but I have to share this...

This morning when I went to my physical therapy appointment (for my dumb boobs), the receptionist told me that she was informing every one of a new privacy law for the state of Oregon. Basically, unless you opt-out, "researchers" can use any material (blood, tissue, etc) that may be left over from lab tests or such. What the Fuck?!?! Before she could even finish, I said "opt-out!" and she looked shocked! Apparently, I am the first one to request such a thing. Holy shit. This kind of creepy big brother shit scares me so much. I always end up sound like some crazy conspiracy theorist, but come on people! They are obviously going to use this information to create a master log of genetic information of every person that they can. Not to mention what Insurance companies could do with this sort of information.

The more I read about this, the more creeped out I become. It looks like, unless you know to tell anyone that may have access to your medical tests that you specifically opt-out, you're automatically included. The state of Oregon is the one enacting this rule, and this is the first I've heard of it...and I work for the state of Oregon!!!

God damn...I hate how complacent and comfortably ignorant people can be. My mind is sufficiently blown for today...wow.
